Are you feeling overwhelmed by life?  Has the pressure of all the things that need to be done started to mound up like a mountain that cannot be overcome?  In 2 Timothy 2:3-7, Paul uses comparisons with people in everyday life who had to make sacrifices in their lives and apply discipline in order to achieve the results that they wanted in themselves.

2 Timothy 2:3-7 states, “Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them. And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules. And hardworking farmers should be the first to enjoy the fruit of their labor. Think about what I am saying. The Lord will help you understand all these things.” (NLT)

We must be willing to apply biblical discipline our lives, just as the soldier apply s a rigorous discipline in theirs and gives up worldly security.  We must train as the athlete does and get in the Word of God everyday in order to properly apply the rules.  The farmer teaches us the patience of applying a hard days work and then the wait to see the fruits of your labor.  Life is not going to just give you the results you want!  You have to work hard!  Despite the setbacks, we must keep going towards victory in the hopes of the harvest that God will sow in our lives.  Surrender your situation that you are overwhelmed by to the King of Kings.  Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” (KJV)  You cannot carry the weight of the world by yourself, it will crush you!  Go to God, the one who made it, shaped it and placed it!
