I work in retail and at the registers we have a lot of magazines. In my opinion almost all of them put advertisements on the front of them telling you how to make you a better you. Ironically, working in retail that’s pretty much what most product is designed to advertise in some way. I have been working really hard to loose a lot of weight to get in better shape and improve my overall health. As I have been doing this I have started to think, have I become one of those people. What kind of people? Do I want to be a person that is seen in the image that you like, find attractive, enjoy, find funny, think is awesome, etc…. Or am I to focused on me that is all I see in the mirror!
In Genesis 1:27 the Bible says, “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” When we look in the mirror we often do not see Him. We see us! So let’s get real for a minute here. You can’t get any better than how Jesus makes you. When you follow the ways he guides us; poor in spirit, mourn, meek, thirst after righteousness, are merciful, are peacemakers, are persecuted for righteousness sake, and are pure in heart. When we live for us, we get what we see in the news every day that makes us sick, depressed, full of hate, anger and malice. I know when people look at me they see my flaws. I see them too. That’s why I need Jesus every day, every hour, every minute, every second. I am no different from you! He makes me new and chisels away to make me in to the man He wants me to be so that one day in a glimpse of a moment you will see His son in me! That is what I pray I see every day in the mirror! Not me, Him!
